Biography
Stephen is a commercial dispute resolution lawyer with a strong commercial sense and client service focus. He was born, raised and educated in Shropshire and joined the firm as a Partner in May 2018.
Stephen’s work covers all aspects of commercial and property dispute resolution.
His commercial dispute work involves complex contractual disputes (sales of goods and services), issues arising out of corporate transactions (including warranty claims and completion account disputes), shareholder litigation (including unfair prejudice actions) and negligence actions (including actions against professionals).
His property dispute work involves commercial property/landlord and tenant issues, including disputes over use, transfer of lease (assignment), relief from forfeiture, break clauses and repair claims (dilapidations). Stephen also deals with restrictive covenant disputes, rights of way disputes and claims involving the ownership of land including claims under the Trusts of Land and Appointment of Trustees Act 1996.
Stephen’s work is based on the proactive and commercial resolution of disputes by litigation (predominantly in the High Court), arbitrations (both institutional and ad-hoc) and increasingly the use of alternative dispute resolution primarily mediation. His work regularly involves applications for injunctive relief, often on an urgent basis.
Stephen acts for clients ranging from owner-managed businesses, high net worth individuals, household-name PLCs and multi-nationals over a wide range of sectors.
